Single, semiadult plant forming typical pitchers.
An interesting, quite rare species, creating a unique peaks covering the entrance to the cup and distinctive white spots near the mouth of the trap. Latin name refers to a smaller size, which achieve the standard form of the species. Due to the fact that in the wild live in the most southern regions of North America from all Sarracenias – they don’t like long-term frosts.
White spots near the hole of traps is not a coincidence, they are arranged strategically, these are places completely devoid of chlorophyll, through which shines a light into the interior of the pitcher. Insect lured by the sweet nectar, arriving to the opening of the cup, where from the top shadow cast by the dark-stained lid of pitcher – fly begins to follow into the light, going deeper and deeper into the interior of the trap.
