Subtropical and tropical sundew species are the most widespread and the easiest to cultivate. They are found mainly in tropical and subtropical regions across several continents. Constant soil moisture and abundant sunlight are recommended for their growth, most of them grow well on sunny windowsill. Members of this group are typically self-pollinating and produce numerous seeds.
An exception to this rule are the South American sundews such as Drosera tomentosa, latifolia, kaieteurensis, and felix, as well as south African like Drosera cuneifolia, hilaris, and regia. These species usually require more specific, species-oriented conditions, and most of them do not tolerate excessively high temperatures.
