Pinguicula (Butterwort)

At first glance, butterwort leaves may seem rather modest, yet they form elegant rosettes that hide a clever trapping mechanism. Their sticky surface captures insects lured by enticing secretions, after which digestive enzymes get to work. Interestingly, when prey lands on the edge of a leaf, it can gently curl inward to secure it. Butterworts also stand out with their charming flowers in shades of violet, pink, or blue, which appear regularly and add a decorative touch to any collection.
