Breeding carnivorous plants has been our passion for many years. We created this website mainly for passionate breeders like us, we want to give them good quality carnivorous plants. I would like to write a few words about our beginnings.
The adventure with insectivorous plants began with the friendship between me (Mateusz), Albert and Konrad when I was in junior high school, a shared desk and an idea for a passion for insectivorous plants, which were still little known in Poland and hard to access. We had space and time to develop this passion, at Albert’s in Chełm Śląski we had huge greenhouses at our disposal. The year 2008 was the beginning of exhibitions with our participation. Albert and I quickly developed breeding within a few years and went to international exhibitions, where we obtained valuable plant material for further reproduction. In Sosnowiec, in my family home, we created a small, modest in vitro laboratory, thanks to which we managed to multiply rarer species that ‘normally’ multiplied very hard. In the years 2012-2016, we participated in many exhibitions and fairs in Poland, and also organized lectures. Albert was also active and developed his passion in the Planeta science club at the University of Silesia, while he was already pursuing his doctorate.
Unfortunately, on November 20, 2016, my partner Albert Janota died at the age of 23. He was a person full of energy, with many passions, because apart from insectivorous plants and starting his PhD at the University of Silesia, Faculty of Biotechnology, he was also a florist, as well as a pianist and an organist.
After his death, I was sure that he would give up his business, but unfortunately the plants brought back many memories related to him.
I moved with my then future wife to her hometown, Rabka-Zdrój, where I basically took a small part of my own plants. After the wedding, we settled permanently in Skomielna Biała, where a greenhouse still stands today and the breeding of insectivorous plants is slowly being rebuilt. My wife and I treat insectivorous plants as a hobby, and we also work in professions completely unrelated to plants, so the multiplication of plants is no longer carried out on such a scale as it used to be. Due to lack of time, we have also limited exhibitions and lectures, we focus only on stationary breeding and a website thanks to which new breeders can obtain plants and obtain information about them. The plants we offer are our products, propagated by us, accustomed to Polish conditions, we try not to use fertilizers in cultivation, so our customers are very satisfied with the quality of the plants.
We are very happy with all visits from breeders and enthusiasts, it is always an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge about plants.
